Blackhawks re-sign Frank Nazar to 7-year extension

Frank Nazar celebrating after a goal (Barstool Chicago / X)

The Chicago Blackhawks have announced that the team has re-signed forward Frank Nazar to a seven-year, $46.20M contract extension, with an average annual value (AAV) of $6.59M. Nazar, 21, played just 56 games in his career across two seasons, with 13 goals and 27 points in that span. The contract will begin during the 2026-27 season, and end after the 2032-33 season, making Nazar an unrestricted free agent (UFA) at age 29.

It is the largest contract extension for a player with such little experience since Kirill Kaprizov’s extension with the Minnesota Wild after just 55 career games. The Blackhawks hope that Nazar can continue to develop as his career continues, as the team is hoping to start contending again sooner rather than later.
