The St. Louis Blues have signed forward Milan Lucic to a professional tryout (PTO) for the 2025-26 preseason. Lucic will be able to participate in Blues training camp, as well as the teams preseason games. At any point before the beginning of the regular season, the Blues can either sign Lucic to a contract, or release him from his PTO, making him a free agent once again.
Lucic, 37, started his NHL career in 2007 with the Boston Bruins, winning a Stanley Cup with them in 2011. He has also spent time playing with the Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames in his career. He returned to the Bruins for one year in the 2023-24 season, but entered the NHLPA Player Assistance Program early into the season. In 1177 career NHL games, Lucic has scored 233 goals and 586 points.
Lucic almost certainly won’t be what he used to be, but could still be a depth option for a Blues team that made the NHL playoffs last year, bringing the Presidents Trophy winning Winnipeg Jets to an Overtime game 7. He will have to impress the coaching staff during training camp if he wishes to return to NHL level play.
