Murat Ates, a writer for the Winnipeg Jets on The Athletic, announced early Wednesday morning that the team has re-signed defenseman Dylan Samberg to a 3-year extension worth an Average Annual Value (AAV) of $5.75M. The two sides were able to avoid arbitration after exchanging details on Monday. The Jets wanted to give Samberg $2M AAV for one year, while Samberg was looking for $6M AAV for the same term.

Samberg, 26, had a career high 6 goals and 20 points in 60 games for the Jets last season, helping the Jets clinch the Presidents’ Trophy for the best record in the National Hockey League (NHL). In 13 playoff games for the Jets last season, Samberg had 3 assists as the Jets lost to the Dallas Stars in the 2nd round. He now has 9 goals and 51 career points in 216 career NHL games, all with Winnipeg.
